A thoughtful, collaborative approach
I am a psychiatrist in private practice in Los Angeles, with a focus on psychotherapy for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and emotional or relationship difficulties. When medication may be helpful, I incorporate it into our work together.
My approach brings together psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and mindfulness. We work to understand what you are experiencing now, recognize recurring patterns, and explore changes that could make a meaningful difference in your life.
You do not need to arrive with a complete explanation of what is wrong. The work can begin with a feeling, a situation that keeps repeating, or something you would like to understand better.
Training in psychiatry and psychotherapy
I completed my psychiatry residency at the University of Pittsburgh’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, followed by a fellowship specializing in psychopharmacology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
My subsequent training included advanced psychodynamic psychotherapy at Columbia University’s Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. I also served as an Assistant Professor at Mount Sinai, where I supervised residents and taught psychopharmacology.
A background in research and health care quality
I hold a PhD in Health Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, where my work focused on evaluating the quality of health care.
My professional experience also includes clinical trials, health services research, and health policy. That background informs an approach that takes both the evidence and the individual person seriously.
One ongoing treatment relationship
Psychotherapy is central to my practice. If we consider medication, we discuss potential benefits, risks, and alternatives in the context of your overall treatment. I can follow your response alongside what we are learning in therapy.
I am licensed to practice medicine in both California and New York. I offer appointments in English and Spanish, in person at my Westwood office and by video for patients located in California or New York. We can discuss which arrangement fits your circumstances when you request a consultation.
